I have done what you mentioned above but I guess I have to send another email to be sure.I am using outlook 2016 (office 365) on my Mac running latest OS. The email is a gmail account, so its very simple when setting up the profile.
Simply select gmail, enter the email/password and all server settings are done for you.The issue only happens when I send an email. I also organise and file my sent items in other folders (or labels in gmail's case) and when I go searching for them some day or so after, I would find them. I then search for something that was in the subject/textand do in the end find them in that folder, just at the very bottom, under older since there is absolutely no date or time associated with the email.The funny thing is that this is not a problem when I receive emails. The date and 'On:' field is populated, but empty when I send.On the other hand, I finally realised something as tried something out before I post this. I am able to replicate it, it seems. When outlook sends the email, it is obviously placed in the sent folder. At this moment, the email has a date and time associatedto it!!!!
Once I move it to another folder/label, the date and time is lost!Still, its annoying and frustrating. I have every right to organise my sent items, but it seems to be the issue.ThanksKyle. Hi Kyle,I had, what sounds like, the same issue with the date / time not showing properly once I sorted the email into one of my folders. I could however see, via my email app on the iPhone, that the email did indeed have a correct date and time associated withit - also after sorting it.The solution in my case was to set Microsoft Outlook up to sort by 'Date Sent' rather than 'Date Received'. By doing so the emails were sorted properly in all folders.Might be the solution to your problem as well.Best regards,OM. I have the exact same issue!Though the problem source I believe is Outlook Mac keeping to seperate dates: date received and date sent. A reply (which is a sent mail) does have Date Sent field, but Date Received field is null.When a sent item is moved to another folder, the mail will look like not having any date because Date Received field is null and Date Sent column for a folder is hidden by default.
We either have to display the sent column and sort or repair the folder:Right click the folder and select the Repair Folder, will (propably delete the cache) and repopulate the Date Received field, seemingly solving the issue at the time. However,a- repairing the folder is a time consuming task (the folder will look like empty for minutes duration)b- action is not always successfulc- repeating repair folder everytime a sent item is moved to an imap folder is ridiculousSuggestion:1) prevent date received field for a sent item to become null. Obviously the software has a bug, either clearing the field or not assigning itOR2) do not keep two separate (sent/received) dates for an email item. Obviously there is no logical need for that. Keeping a simple date field will make the life easier both for you and for us.Thank you.
